The first batch of songs is the full pre-production session that we did in DECEMBER 2009 at the Headroom for a full-length we thought would be recorded by the following spring.

Being the professionals that we have always been, we figured we should write two or three more songs for the album to make it a worthwhile venture. The second batch was what we came up with. I remember playing those in March 2010, so they must have been written around that time.

Anyone familiar with Baseball Season will point out that six out of nine of those songs are not on the record. That’s how bad we sucked. We had to straight up scrap 2/3 of the album we wanted to record to make something that would be worthwhile in the end.* We ended up adding a dude (Andre) because the four of us couldn’t really hack it.

Baseball Season finally came out in July of 2011 as a self-released thing after not being able to find someone who wanted to put it out on vinyl. Baseball Season is finally coming out on vinyl on February 14th because we found someone who wanted to do it that we were comfortable with.

I’m glad that we didn’t record the shitty first version of that record. I’m glad Andre wanted to join our band. I’m glad that whole period of us playing shows without having released something in two years is over. I hope that you guys get Baseball Season on vinyl and enjoy it because I’m still happy with it. I hope that I can quit my job and tour forever soon.

*In all fairness to our delicate egos, Pete’s Shirt and Steve both underwent massive revisions to become Hightower and Welcome to Miami, respectively. The fact does remain, however, that the original versions fucking sucked.
